A RUN IN ST. BRUNO

I had been sitting for a while in front of the computer after dropping off my daughter at the school bus stop, and I had just decided to make coffee instead of going back to bed because I had too many thoughts and email and research to get done.

Then I got a text.

"I am going to St-Bruno, any interest in coming?"

I typed, "yes, but I think today is out. Maybe next week".

But I didn't send it. I thought of all the days I wanted to run. How I hadn't talked with this friend for ages. How I did have time if I left right then.

So I erased the line, and just left yes. I called and she was in her car on the way. I checked that I was wearing a sports bra, regretted the coffee and skipping breakfast. I filled 3 water bottles, grabbed a fistful of granola bars and ran out the door with my purse and an extra pair of runners.

I drove to St. Bruno, ran 10k in a forest, caught up with an amazing friend, and got back in time to shower before I had to be back at the bus stop.

I almost said no.

I am so glad I said yes.
